A Number of Things

Here is what I’ve been up to that’s kept me away from blogging:

  1. My grandfather is in the hospital with congestive heart failure.  Although he is out of ICU and doing much better they have to put a feeding tube in tomorrow.  😦  The problem is compounded by the fact that my grandmother is so deep in to Alzheimer’s that she requires more supervision/care than my 1 year old.  I think when your grandparents are ill you worry about them but also about how your parent (my mom in this case) is handling it.  I want to be there for her to ease her stress.
  2. One of our dogs, who we’ve had for 11 years and was our “furbaby,” has growled/snapped at Aellyn twice now.  It is disturbing to me how quickly I went from loving my dogs like they are part of the family to feeling like “oh no you didn’t just snap at my baby!”  Needless to say this is all really upsetting.
  3. My husband was nice and “let me sleep in” on Memorial Day and took Aellyn to the parade without me.  He was being sweet right?  I bawled my eyes out.  This requires its own post, and I’ll get to that, but if you are a working (outside the home specifically) mom you might know what I was feeling.

On a happier note I added this cool toolbar thingy to my website that looks really cool.  I welcome any feedback about it but it seems to be feature rich without being too intrusive.  Oh, and it is free! (another blog-post-that-needs-to-be-written is about the sad state of affairs with BlogHer and Nestle and why I’m committed to keeping ads off my blog).

  1. That is really sad about the dog(s), hopefully you can find good homes for them. G—PA will buy her a German Sheppard when she is a little older and raises it from a pup.
Try , try as you might you can never catch-up on sleep once you’ve missed it’s gone for ever, the same thing can be said about mornings with your daughter.
Yes your mother really needs a lot of help to take some of the stress off of her. This may be an on going thing for a while.
Now a few thought of my own, I DO NOT HAVE A FACE BOOK ACCOUNT THERE FORE I MISS OUT ON SOME GOOD PICTURES OF MY BABY GHEEL. HERES A THOUGHT MAYBE THEY (the pictures) COULD BE PUT ON FLICKR.

  2. Take the dog to the vet for an exam. (I’m a vet tech.) If she’s 11, and a large breed, she could have pain somewhere that is making her snap. I have seen this exact same scenario played out over and over again. And many years ago, my 15 year old pitbull snapped at me, for the first time ever, and it turned out he had severe spinal degeneration, which was probably excruciating. yet, he was stoic enough we never knew.

  3. The toolbar that appears at the bottom of the page? You are the second person I've seen add it – at this point I'm mildly annoyed by it, b/c it's kind of transparent-y like a popup 😉 But that's just my curmudgeon self talking, I'll get used to it.

I am really sorry to hear about your grandparents & dogs. I hope that you find resolutions and peace all around.

    • I think I felt that way the first time I saw it too. Now I like it because it is a place to put my photos/videos/etc. without taking up my page space.

What sold me was the beautiful way it displayed the videos and pictures in the lightbox.

I felt annoyed by the WP GreetBox when I first saw it too. I’m hoping it grows on you Dionna! 😉 Thanks for the feedback.
