Your mom said it perfectly. I honestly think formula companies are EVIL. I know there are very few cases where it’s a blessing (very few), but for the most part I think it’s a huge scam. I get formula ads all the time in the mail and it makes me sick. Anyway, I am pretty opinionated about this.

I found your blog through a birth blog I follow. Congrats on your pregnancy and good luck. Is this your first? Motherhood is the most remarkable experience of life. Never thought I could love something so purely. Caleb just turned 6 months old yesterday. We are hoping to be pregnant again before he turns one.

self righteous, screwed up, confused. How did society get this way? I’m suspicious that all our attitudes are being manipulated by “bottom lines” in many corporations and institutions.

I agree, however, I would LOVE to hear your opinion on mothers who are breastfeeding their 8 year old boys….I am sending all my preggo friends your research on the shots, I am glad you are doing all that work!!!! LOL:)

Interesting dichotomy in American culture where Girls Gone Wild and shows like “Manswers” or even “America’s Next Top Model” denigrate women to objects of sex appeal and no one complains, yet breastfeeding is considered obscene.

DH and I were watching Dirty Jobs on Discovery about two weeks ago. Mike Rowe was grooming dogs and they actually blurred out the dog’s privates so that we couldn’t see them.

Americans need to resort their priorities (and I mean NORTH Americans, not just people in the States).

Right on! I’m especially turned off by the hypocrisy of facebook allowing sexually explicit or suggestive pictures of half-naked women who are obviously only “eye candy” for men, while banning much more modestly clothed women who happen to be nurturing their babies the way God intended.

Agreed on that last point especially. In fact, there’s a lot of deliberate obscenity out there that should be focused on. I don’t really see anyone getting up in arms over them. Instead, they’re focused on babies’ most natural food source.

I admit before having a baby, I saw the breasts in a more sexual light, but I still knew their main purpose was feeding our offspring. Now I’m actually put off by the thought of them being used for anything else. Maybe that will change when my DD is weaned, but to me they will always be first and foremost a food source.
